"RACHAEL'S KEN" WINS THE WEIGHT-LOSS CONTEST...
« on: December 06, 2003, 01:55:33 PM »
This morning, Saturday, Dec. 6, just one day shy of 5 months on the diet, Ken landed on 210. He started at 242. We'll see if he stays there. In order to win this competition, he's got to STAY there for a few days.

I'm not sure in what thread I told you about the competition, but it's here somewhere. Ken was striving to get to 210 before I got to 150, but he's there now and I'm still at 152.5!!!!! YUK!!!

I'm not ready to throw in the towel, yet, as he's been eating a lot of carbs lately. We'll see what happens.

I've tried, but it has NOT worked.

He did have a piece of pie today, but I had some low carb ice cream!

I'm conceding the race

Ok, that's it, folks. Exactly 5 months ago, Ken and I started this Atkins diet. He weighed in at 242 and today hit 209. His goal was 210.

I started at 179, but haven't been able to go lower than 152, but my goal was 150. So, he wins the reward.

Reward for him was a truck. However, he decided against getting one, and is content with his knock-around van, for which I'm thankful. Little did he realize we were just going to buy him a remote-control one!

If I won, he was supposed to get me a new dress, with HIM picking it out. Unfortunately, I don't like for him to pick out my clothes, so I won, also, when he told me I should buy myself a new dress. It's also a great idea because I don't have much left that fits me! Everything, but this one, just kind of hangs.. and they are NOT jumpers, intended to just "hang."

I tried my best to tempt him with Reeses' peanut butter cups..just so it would give me some time to catch up, since I was stuck two times losing only 1 pound in a month.

But, it didn't work. He was solidly strong. Disgustingly tough and I was surprisingly weak!

So, he won, fair and square and is revelling in it!

We thought the winner should stay there at least a week, but he's already below the goal, and I'm sure he's only going lower! So, I'm conceding the win to him!!!!!!!!!!

Rachael,

Congratulations to both of you! I've been on and off the diet since it first came out in the mid-70s. It's a great diet--the only one that's ever worked for me. Good luck with maintenance over the holidays.

You both look great in the picture.

Oh gee, I just noticed it was years ago. Second, third, fourth time around get easier. LOL
